What we do :)

Ergo Solutions, News Room — By Lawrence Lewis on January 18, 2011 at 7:47 pm

Dr Shaw’s approach offers both precision and flexibility in evaluating the bio mechanics of the work environment and making recommendations. Proposed solutions are based on a thorough analysis of all relevant data and the concerns of all stakeholders are always taken into consideration.

  • Offers on-site ergonomic assessments to work stations.  There is a general talk (less than 30 minutes) re: anatomy, mechanics and then individual assessments…maximum 10 staff per session.
  • Offers foot evaluations and orthotics to those requesting it. PRIOR to the presentation, the business will confirm whether or not their EHCP covers orthotics by DCs.
  • Provides product solutions: back supports,  foam wedges, headsets for phones, pillows, SUPERFEET and nutritional supplements.
  • Talks about anatomy, proper posture, and a few simple strengthening and stretching exercises.
  • Encourages employees to watch each other’s postures and work together to create less time off of work due to back pain and headaches, etc.
  • Shows employees that their employer cares about their health.
  • Employers can purchase back supports instead of expensive new office chairs.  And the new information that their employees learn will help maintain health, and they can watch each other and work as a team.

An ergonomic assessment is an evaluation of the bio mechanics of the work environment that includes recommendations for engineering and/or administrative modifications to the workplace.  Ergonomically designed workplaces can help employees avoid pain and injuries that may arise from repetitive tasks.
